Cleveland-Marshall College of Law’s Student Public Interest Law Organization (SPILO) is an organization of students, faculty, and staff at the law school which recognizes the inequities that exist in our legal system and is dedicated to developing a more just society. SPILO serves as a resource center for students seeking employment or volunteer opportunities which focus on public service. The group sponsors summer interns in public interest law, guest speakers, fundraisers, workshops, and social functions.

What's the Sitch with Dean Witmer-Rich?
In the last year alone, our community has been forever changed from the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. This is a crucial time to recognize these existing inequities in our legal system in order to understand how we can best protect the health and well-being of our community and support equitable and just responses to the crisis. Our students are committed to upholding Cleveland-Marshall’s “Learn Law, Live Justice” motto by acting as advocates and activists to fight for drastic actions and policies that address the racial and economic injustices associated with the pandemic.
A Sunny Day with Jaime Gay
To help support our students, SPILO will be hosting an entirely virtual raffle fundraiser to help raise money for these students who are completing volunteer internships that are dedicated to serving the community. Our First Annual SPILO "Live Justice" Fundraiser will be held during the week of Friday, April 16th to Friday, April 23rd. Our goal is to raise at least $1,000 to fund these students during their unpaid internships to help accommodate costs of living.
