The Office of Research promotes research and scholarship activities conducted by faculty, students, and staff across Cleveland State University. We provide support services for grant-seeking faculty, provide seed funding and small grants to faculty and students in all academic fields, and facilitate technology transfer of the University's scientific and technical research findings.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fund: Support for a proof of concept competition – prizes awarded faculty, staff, and/or student teams to complete small scale ($1000-10,000) projects that have high commercialization potential.
Research Discretionary Fund (Office of Research Annual Fund): Supports the Office of Research’s activities to promote interdisciplinary research and engagement across academic disciplines, with industry, and with the community.
Research Priorities Fund: Seed funding for strategic research initiatives guided by the Vice President for Research. The VPR’s current priority areas are water research, public health, virtual reality and augmented reality, quantum computing, smart cities, and genetic research.
Living Lab Fund: Funding to faculty and students for applied research projects outside of traditional labs that improve health, public spaces, and the environment.
