Research Conference Travel For Students 2019

From Boston to Portland, our students traveled the country last year, attending and presenting at academic conferences and conventions. In fact, Department of Psychology students logged over 13,000 miles during the 2018-2019 school year. 

The opportunity to present at psychology research conferences is extremely beneficial to the academic and professional trajectories of our undergraduate and graduate students. At the same time, participation at these conferences showcase CSU’s impact and innovation to broader academic, scientific, and professional communities. Second-year Masters student, Madhwa Galgali, describes his experience at such a conference that is also shared by so many of our students:

“I was given an opportunity to present at a conference in front of my peers who came from all the major universities within the Midwest region. Given that it was my first ever conference, I learned the ropes of presenting at a major conference in front of my fellow peers and academics and to answer questions. I was able to talk and network with other psychologists and social scientists from various other institutions. I regard this as one of the most valuable academic experiences I have encountered so far."

Supporting this level of student travel is a significant investment, and the Department of Psychology awarded over $3,400 last year to support these trips. As such, the proceeds of this crowdfunding campaign are vital if we hope to expand our students’ travel this year.
